This Meeting House was the centre of a thriving Quaker community. In 1714 a balcony was added. This is the view from it. It is still an active meeting. The tapestry on the wall questions the Trident nuclear programme. Ironically the UK's nuclear submarines are built at Barrow in Furness, only about 40 miles west of this Quaker sanctuary.

Photo from balcony down into room below; No Trident sign hangs on upper facing bench.

A side room has refreshments for visiting Friends and an old piece of wood from the tree in Sedburgh churchyard where Fox preached outdoors in 1652.
